Relocalization, Peak Oil and Climate Change Planning for the Ocean State

About

PostCarbon/Relocalize Rhode Island is a developing project meant to support Rhode Islanders working towards a sustainable future in the midst of unprecedented growing energy and resource challenges. Building on the models established by groundbreaking organizations worldwide, we hope to serve as a clearinghouse of information, a means of networking, and an organizing hub for those in Rhode Island who share a sense of urgency in these endeavors.

Global climate change, resource depletion and Peak Oil are no longer questions to be debated, and resource scarcity now affects each one of us every day, whether at the gas pump, with our home heating systems, at the water faucet or at the grocery store. How should forward-thinking Rhode Islanders respond? How can we make sure the poorest among us are also secure in difficult times?

On this site, you will find a diversity of links and postings, focusing both on the nature of the problems we face–with supportive materials and commentary, old and new– and resources that can be used to bring about positive change. This is why you will find government documents and journalistic pieces alternating with discussions of tools and materials, trailers from important films alternating with articles about local farmers, business people and conservationists. All of these resources can hopefully be utilized to help us become more sustainable in our own communities.

Please contact us with your ideas, link suggestions, success stories and questions.
